The Cowboy Club Sandwich is a hearty and flavorful layered sandwich featuring toasted white bread, creamy Cowboy Mayo, sliced deli turkey and ham, crispy bacon, fresh romaine lettuce, juicy roma tomatoes, and sharp cheddar cheese. This classic American sandwich combines savory meats with fresh vegetables and a zesty mayo to create a satisfying meal perfect for lunch or casual dinner.

Ingredients

Bread and Spread

  • 6 slices white sandwich bread, toasted
  • ½ cup Cowboy Mayo

Meat and Cheese

  • 8 ounces sliced deli turkey
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked crispy
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese

Vegetables

  • 4 leaves romaine lettuce
  • 2 roma tomatoes, sliced (about 4 slices per tomato)

Seasonings

  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bread and Mayo: Lay all six slices of toasted bread flat on a cutting board. Spread 1 tablespoon of Cowboy Mayo on one side of each slice evenly to ensure every bite is flavorful.
  2. Build First Layer: Place one slice of bread, mayo-side up, on a clean surface. Top with half of the sliced turkey, then add one romaine lettuce leaf and 4 slices of roma tomato. Lightly season the tomato with kosher salt and black pepper to enhance flavor.
  3. Add Second Bread Slice and Mayo: Place a second slice of bread on top, mayo-side down. Spread 1 tablespoon of Cowboy Mayo on the top side of this slice to prepare the next layer.
  4. Add Meat, Cheese, and Lettuce: Layer four slices of crispy bacon, two slices of ham, one slice of sharp cheddar cheese, and another romaine leaf on top of the mayo.
  5. Top with Third Bread Slice: Place the third slice of bread on top, mayo-side down. Press down gently to compact the sandwich slightly for easier handling.
  6. Secure and Slice: Secure the sandwich with four toothpicks, one near each corner to hold layers together. Carefully cut the sandwich diagonally into quarters for classic presentation.
  7. Repeat for Second Sandwich: Repeat steps 2 through 6 to assemble the second sandwich using remaining ingredients.
  8. Serve: Serve the sandwiches immediately for best texture and freshness.

Notes

  • Toasting the bread ensures it does not become soggy from the mayo.
  • Adjust seasoning on tomatoes to your taste preference for salt and pepper.
  • Use toothpicks to prevent the sandwich layers from separating when serving.
  • For a healthier option, consider substituting white bread with whole grain or multigrain bread.
  • Make sure bacon is cooked crispy to add a crunchy texture contrast.
