This classic Jell-O Salad is a refreshing and colorful gelatin dessert combining flavored gelatin, mixed fruits, and a creamy whipped topping. Perfect for potlucks, family gatherings, or a light dessert, it offers a delightful balance of sweetness and texture with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Gelatin Base

  • 1 package (3 oz) flavored gelatin (such as lime or strawberry)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water

Fruit and Topping

  • 1 cup mixed fruit (such as pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, and grapes)
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream or whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Gelatin: In a medium bowl, dissolve the flavored gelatin package into 1 cup of boiling water. Stir continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved, ensuring there are no granules left.
  2. Add Cold Water: Stir in 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture, mixing well to combine and cool the gelatin slightly.
  3. Add Fruit: Gently fold in 1 cup of mixed fruit, making sure the fruit is evenly distributed throughout the gelatin mixture.
  4. Chill to Set: Pour the mixture into a mold or serving dish. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for about 4 hours or until the gelatin is completely set and firm to the touch.
  5. Top and Serve: Once the gelatin is set, remove from the fridge and spoon 1/2 cup of whipped cream or whipped topping on top just before serving to add a creamy finish.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh or canned fruit that is well-drained to prevent excess liquid in the gelatin.
  • You can customize the flavor of your jelly by selecting any fruit-flavored gelatin you like.
  • If you want a firmer salad, reduce cold water to 3/4 cup instead of 1 cup.
  • Try adding nuts or marshmallows for extra texture and flavor.
  • Chill time may vary depending on refrigerator settings; ensure the salad is firm before topping with whipped cream.
