This Gingerbread Hot Chocolate is a cozy and festive drink that combines rich dark chocolate with warm gingerbread spices. Perfect for chilly days or holiday gatherings, it’s creamy, comforting, and topped with whipped cream and a cinnamon sprinkle for an extra touch of indulgence.

Ingredients

Hot Chocolate Base

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Spices

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Garnish

  • Whipped cream
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat Milk: In a saucepan over medium heat, warm 2 cups of milk until it is hot but not boiling, ensuring it’s heated evenly by stirring occasionally.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Add Spices: Add 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips to the warm milk along with 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is completely melted, and the spices are fully incorporated, resulting in a smooth and rich hot chocolate.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top each serving with whipped cream and a light sprinkle of cinnamon for a finishing touch of sweetness and spice.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for a richer taste, or substitute with almond milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Adjust the spices according to your preference for more or less warmth.
  • For an extra festive touch, add a cinnamon stick as a stirrer or a drizzle of caramel sauce on top.
  • Make sure to heat the milk gently to avoid scorching or curdling.
