A delicious and easy-to-make Honey Glazed Ham recipe featuring a sweet and spiced glaze made from honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and warming spices. Perfect for holiday dinners and special occasions, this bone-in ham is roasted to perfection, glazed periodically to create a beautifully caramelized finish.

Ingredients

Ham

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 8-10 lbs)

Glaze

  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) to prepare for roasting the ham evenly.
  2. Position Ham: Place the fully cooked bone-in ham in a roasting pan with the cut side down to ensure stability and even cooking.
  3. Prepare Glaze: In a bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon. Mix well to form a smooth, flavorful glaze.
  4. Apply Glaze: Brush the glaze generously all over the surface of the ham to infuse it with sweet and spicy flavors.
  5. Cover and Roast: Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil to retain moisture and roast in the oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, basting with additional glaze every 30 minutes to build layers of flavor.
  6. Caramelize Glaze: Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes of roasting to let the glaze caramelize and create a beautiful, sticky crust.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest uncovered for 15 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute, ensuring moist and tender meat.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature; the ham should reach 140°F (60°C) for optimal serving temperature since it is pre-cooked.
  • Make sure to baste regularly to keep the ham moist and flavorful.
  • Allowing the ham to rest after roasting helps maintain juiciness when sliced.
  • This ham pairs well with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage.
