Ingredients

Crunch Coating

  • 1 Package of Strawberry Crunch Crumbles
  • 1/2 Cup of Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Cup of Freeze Dried Strawberries

Snack Mix

  • 12 Ounces of Traditional Chex Mix
  • 6 Ounces of White Melting Chocolate
  • 1/2 Cup of Red and Pink Candy Coated Chocolate
  • Valentine Sprinkle Mix (quantity as desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare ground freeze-dried strawberries: Grind the freeze dried strawberries using a coffee grinder, blender, or place in a ziplock bag and smash them until finely ground.
  2. Make strawberry powdered sugar mix: Combine the ground freeze dried strawberries with the powdered sugar in a separate ziplock bag, mixing well to blend.
  3. Prepare for coating: Place the strawberry crunch crumbles into another ziplock bag, setting it aside for coating.
  4. Melt white chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  5. Coat first half of Chex mix: Pour 10 ounces of Chex mix into the bowl with melted white chocolate, stir with a spatula to ensure all pieces are evenly coated in chocolate.
  6. Transfer coated Chex to crunch coating: Scoop out half of the chocolate covered Chex mix and place it into the ziplock bag containing the strawberry crunch crumbles.
  7. Coat second half of Chex mix: Place the remaining chocolate coated Chex mix into the ziplock bag containing the strawberry powdered sugar mixture.
  8. Shake to coat: Seal each ziplock bag tightly and shake vigorously to ensure all Chex pieces are completely covered with their respective coatings.
  9. Dry the coated mixes: Spread both coated Chex mixes onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper to allow them to dry and set.
  10. Add uncovered Chex mix: Add the leftover uncovered Chex mix to the dried coated mixes on the cookie sheet.
  11. Decorate with sprinkles and candies: Sprinkle the Valentine sprinkle mix and the red and pink candy coated chocolates over the strawberry shortcake Chex mix evenly.
  12. Final drying and serving: Let the entire mixture dry completely on the cookie sheet before transferring it to a serving dish. Serve and enjoy this delicious strawberry crunch treat!

Notes

  • Grinding freeze dried strawberries finely helps ensure an even coating and enhances flavor distribution.
  • If white melting chocolate is not available, white chocolate chips can be used but may require careful melting to avoid seizing.
  • The Valentine sprinkle mix adds festive color but can be substituted with other themed sprinkles for different occasions.
  • Allow enough time for the coated Chex mix to dry fully before serving to avoid stickiness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crunchiness.
